Our Story

It all started with individuals with a passion for caring- and caring makes us happy.

After a dozen years of practicing speech language and feeding therapies in hospital, school and clinic settings, Amber was contemplating the next step in her career. While she was happy to see progress in the lives of her clients she had a number of ideas on how therapy can be integrated so the impact can be greater. She got to talking to her brother Phil who was in the process of moving back to the US after running a social enterprise in Kenya and looking for his next project. On the last day of 2014 Hope Speech and Language Therapy was born.

Slowly but surely we found our footing and soon added occupational therapy to our service offerings and increasingly focused on serving a pediatric population. By 2017 we were able to offer benefits for our staff and hire a full-time team. We started working with Dr. Sara so we could provide families with the diagnoses and evaluations they needed to gain access to many helpful services provided throughout the region. We were quickly running out of space so we moved from our original office in Temecula to our brand new office in Murrieta in 2018.

As Hope Speech and Language Therapy was building, Megan was nurturing Key to Behavior, an ABA company she founded, with a focus on naturalistic play-based ABA therapy and “ABA with heart” throughout the San Diego area. With small caseloads and a focus on crafting unique individualized solutions for each family based on their specific needs, Key to Behavior’s approach varied greatly from some other companies that took a cookie-cutter approach to ABA.

In 2019, right as Hope Speech and Language Therapy was looking to offer ABA, Megan was looking towards getting back to focusing on the magic that happens when a child flourishes with the partnership of a great therapist and molding future clinicians. When we all got to talking it became apparent that together we can all go further and deliver more impact to families throughout the region. So we joined forces so Hope Comprehensive Center for Development can serve and astonish families for years to come.

2020 has brought its challenges, but most importantly its life changing learning opportunities.

We are eternally grateful for our team of dedicated therapists and office staff that has stuck with us through the pandemic and we are excited for so much good stuff to look forward to. We’ve not only survived through a months-long office closure but are putting our finishing touches on opening our ABA and evaluations clinic located across the hall from our Murrieta clinic, have grown our team by almost double, began serving clients in the Desert region (Twentynine Palms, Yucca Valley, Joshua Tree, etc) and San Diego, and are looking to secure office space for our next clinic. We sorely miss being able to have as many face-to-face meetings as we would like, but we’re also grateful for clients’ and staff’s willingness to shift to telehealth when necessary. We know these current times will make us a stronger company better prepared to serve your family and thank you for your consideration in working with us.
